Teaching method:
|
Outdoor learning. All preparations take place in
one of the school's classrooms. Starts with a brief
presentation of different types of stones, then
continues with a presentation of five different,
well known landmarks (The Pyramids, The Tower of
Pisa, Stonehenge, The Great Wall and Coliseum).
It's a good idea to use pictures to illustrate both
the different types of stones, and the buildings.
The pupils are divided into 10 different groups,
which will build models of the buildings. (There
will be two versions of each building, since there
are ten groups and only five buildings.) The
building will take place outside, in an area nearby
the school. While the pupils are building the
teachers light a fire in a self-made oven, made by
stones. Each group will get the opportunity to heat
a sandwich in the oven. When the work is completed,
each group will present their work of art, to the
others |
